Puzzle Project

July’s Puzzle set new standards for musical mayhem, with superb sets from our guest DJs Liquid Ross, Neil Psykinetic, and a wicked set from Kali – Glade’s loss was our gain, and we’re stoked she still made the trip from Brazil to treat us to such a memorable set!

It’s been the best summer for years, and as the temperature soars, our line ups just keep getting hotter and hotter to match! Headlining this month’s party is one of our biggest guests this year, one of Britain’s top DJs and frankly the hottest producer around right now! This August, Puzzle welcomes none other than….

ALI WILSON!

Since his days as a fresh-faced young DJ regularly playing at the 414, Ali’s career has gone simply stratospheric! Ever since his Tekelec imprint exploded onto an unsuspecting club land, his unique techno influenced take on trance music has won him legions of fans, including some of the biggest names in dance music. Since then he’s released tracks on many of the world’s biggest labels such as Warner, Armada, High Contrast, Toolroom, Spinnin, Incharge, and Flashover. Tech trance monsters like ‘Shakedown’, ‘Pandora’ and ‘Danger’ have ended up as firm fixtures in the wallets of some of dance music’s top names such as Sander Van Doorn, Carl Cox, (who named him his producer of the year 2006), Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery and Armin Van Buuren. Ali’s showing no signs of slowing up on the production front, having recently completed remix work for Tiesto and Armin, collaborating with the mighty Marco V on their recent release ‘Kaos Theory’ and has a brand new artist album set to drop this September. Ali’s profile is only going one way – up and fast – so we’re of course delighted we’ve managed to secure a set from him in the intimate surrounds of Club 414. This is simply not to be missed, expect stacks of unreleased and exclusive material (including perhaps a few of Ali’s trademark bootlegs), flawless mixing and all carried along by Ali’s distinctive and irresistibly funky techno rhythms!

MAZIEG

Our second guest may be unfamiliar to some London clubbers, but in his home town of Manchester Mazieg is a byword for quality psychedlic sounds! DJing and throwing parties since 1994, Mazie’s got a strong dance pedigree and as a resident DJ for the legendary Illuminaughty parties, one of the UK’s top psy nights, you can take it for granted this guy knows how to rock a dancefloor! Make sure you don’t fail to catch this musical maestro in a rare London performance.

MATT LOCK

Our next guest is a firm favourite for many London clubbers, the one and only Matt Lock! He’s been missed on his travels, and we’re over the moon to welcome the prodigal son back to Puzzle! Matt will be on warm up duties for us this time, you can expect an hour and a half of the finest aural treats. You’ll certainly hear some of the quality trance Matt’s renowned for, but with Mr Lock having developed a new found taste for housier sounds you’re in store for an eclectic selection of chunk, funk and good old fashioned uplifting trance. Make sure you get down early to catch Matt in action!

MATT CHURCH

First up of our residents is Matt Church – and after July’s back to back shenanigans with LK we’re sure this month’s set will continue to surpass all expectations. Head honcho at Red Sky, Matt’s winning serious plaudits for both the label and his own releases, with latest track ‘Perfect Dream’ riding high in the trance charts on Trackitdown.net amongst others. He’s also just been signed to new dance agency Danceplug so you can expect his profile to keep rising and rising. As always you can expect soaring riffs, driving basslines and an infectious love for music that shines through in his performances.

PHIL LANKESTER

Next the man you all know and love – London’s favourite DJ, Halcyon resident and all round top bloke, the one and only Phil Lankester! Apart from his Halcyon residency, Phil’s a regular at many of the UK’s biggest parties, such as Party Proactive and most recently at the massive Sunrise festival! He’s proved time and again the qualities that have seen him voted Harderfaster.net DJ of the Year time and again: impeccable tune selection encompassing dirty basslines through to spine tingling euphoria; an unparalleled range of technical tricks and wizardry; and an ability to read and work a crowd like no one else!

ALI CANTOR

Next up is Puzzle’s very own Ali, a DJ who since securing his residency for Puzzle in January has proved himself a firm favourite with the Puzzle crowd. This man plays the very best trance out there – and this month he’ll be pulling out all the stops with a late night set featuring the very best driving tech trance, with of course a potent dose of good old hands-in-the-air euphoria. Make sure you don’t miss out – Ali’s sure to show why he’s building a reputation as one of London’s most exciting up and coming trance jocks!

ANDI LEPPARD

Completing our line up for this month is the newest addition to the Puzzle crew, Andi Leppard! Having taken the roof off at many of the UK biggest psy parties such as Halcyon and Illuminaughty, we were delighted when Andi agreed to join the team as our brand new ressie – and immediately proved himself in emphatic style with a red hot debut set that had the 414 dancefloor begging for more! Andi will be playing the closing set, and with this DJ behind the decks we’re willing to bet the temperature will be stay at boiling point right to the very end!

So there you have it, one massive headliner, some quality guest DJs and London’s best team of ressies – that adds up to one sizzling summer night! If you’re heading to SW4 Puzzle is the perfect place to carry your night on with more of the very best in house, trance and psy and right on Clapham’s doorstep.

Come and find out why we’re London’s biggest small party – don’t be the missing piece!

Magnetix

After the roaring success of our themed parties of late, we
thought we’d really push the boat out for our summer party
and give you all a chance to really stretch your imagination
and an excuse to raid those fancy dress stores! Bring your
chains, gold teeth and of course your hoes boys and girls,
because it’s the Magnetix Pimps and Hoe’s Party on Friday
30th July, and it’s going to be blinging!

Our first DJ Above, head of the Diablo Traxx
Collective/Recordings. One of the busiest guys on the scene is
no stranger to rocking venues both in the UK and
internationally, so we’re very happy that we have managed to
secure his services, and we are sure you’ll all agree!

Matt Church is no stranger to the 414 having been involved
with parties and events there for well over half a decade. Now
commanding some serious respect in the Trance scene with his
Red Sky Digital label which has seen support from the biggest
names you can think of and a whole lot more, we’re happy to
have this star in the making grace the decks to show us what
he’s all about,

Our next guest is the brains behind the DHF brand
Candyman01. Luca has been about for a little over a year now
and has achieved a lot in this time, including taking DHF to
Hidden in Vauxhall and having some amazing parties, and
playing all across the country on the way. We think there’s
lots more from him to come so we’re very happy to be able to
give him his Club 414 debut.

Finally we have Shift-E, a DJ who is well known in Brighton and
London areas from running the Insurgence (and more recently)
Rebellion parties. Able to mix harder trance beats on 3 decks
whilst effortlessly scratching, the talent of this guy knows no
bounds and again, we’re glad that we are able to present
another DJ making his Club 414 debut!

But of course no Magnetix would be complete without our trio
of residents, Phil Lankester, Dean Zone, Timmy Whiz and
Lorenzo Barrero, and don’t forget you can download loads of
mixes from our past events for free from our website,
www.magnetixuk.com!

Psy N Tific

London’s favourite free party lands in July with another great lineup that is destined to deliver on the Psy-N-Tific ethos of uplifting and energetic psy-trance to please your eyes and get your feet moving!

With our usual array of colourful decor, free glowy thing and (most importantly) free sweets, we always deliver exceptional value for money!

And just in case you needed another reason not to miss our July instalment, this will be our last party for a couple of months as we take a summer break – so make sure you come down and get your fix in order to keep you going until we return in the autumn!

The DJs providing you with a splendiferous slice of psy this month are:

Phil Lankester aka Libra 9:
The force that is Phil Lankester returns for his first appearance for Psy-N-Tific of 2010. One of the busiest DJs in the scene, with his involvement with the hugely succesful Halcyon and Puzzle Project brands, our lips are wet with anticipation for what he has in store for us this time around!

Renegade:
Hailing from Cape Town and relatively new to the London scene, we’re pleased to welcome Renegade for her a debut Psy-N-Tific set. No doubt she’ll inject a little bit of the Saffa spirit into the party!

Parsek:
Also making his Psy-N-Tific bow, the Psychedelic Circle resident will be warming up proceedings for us. The Mexicans really know how to do their Psy and Parsek is no different!

Mark Day:
The lover of marshmallowy goodness and convicted flump botherer will be once again be serving up something special for Psy-N-Tific. Resident for good reason – you won’t want to miss it!

Ped:
Lover of all things uplifting, Ped will be bringing an end to the night with a trademark energetic set of cheery goodness!

Puzzle Project

Wow! Last month’s party was a huge success, with all the DJs causing some serious dance floor May-hem! Thanks to all the clubbers who made it down to the 414 to dance their little hearts out, and special mentions to all our guest DJs – Nick Sentience, Nikki S and Rebecca Saforia – who all absolutely smashed the club to pieces! The Puzzle residents, as usual, weren’t too bad either…

This month we’ve got another cracking line up for you, with the usual selection of the very best guest DJs supplemented by our ever reliable crack team of resident DJs providing an immaculately programmed journey through the world of underground dance music.

::SWAP::
Our first guest this month is SWAP with an exclusive London set. His name may sound unfamiliar to some London clubbers but this young trance DJ is well known in his home region of the Midlands. Having caught his first big break playing for Passion, SWAP impressed the team behind one of the UK’s top trance nights so much he now forms part of the NuPassion DJs and has rocked the main room and second room dance floors at the Emporium on many occasions. Since then he’s also played for most of the big trance nights in the North, including Digital Society, Off The Rails and Amplified, alongside some of the biggest names in trance such as Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, John O’ Callaghan, and Marco V. He also runs radio shows on Slinky.fm, Afterhours.fm and produces a regular podcast (the ‘SWAPcast’ series) which have all built up a significant and loyal following across the globe. His brand of trance is impossible to pigeon hole. Taking in trance in all its forms, from progressive through to tech trance, and elements from outside the trance genre such as techno and house, you can be sure to hear a diverse, energetic and spellbinding set every time you catch him play. It’s not often you’ll get the chance to hear SWAP play a London set so make sure you don’t miss out!

::TREVOR MCLACHLAN::
Our next guest is certainly well known in the Big Smoke – London legend Trevor McLachlan! Trevor cut his teeth as resident for the mighty Twisted parties and for many years it was rare to see a trance or hard dance line up without his name on, having played for all the greats such as Heat, Tidy, Extreme Euphoria and as a resident for London’s best loved boat party Friendz. A string of quality releases on Impact, Tidy Traxx and Tranzlation cemented his position as one of the harder edged dance music scene’s greats. The once ubiquitous Mr McLachlan has taken up a lower profile for the last year or so with his initiation into family life, but can still be tempted to get behind a pair of decks for the right party – and if Puzzle doesn’t qualify we’re not sure what would. Expect spine tingling riffs, chunky basslines and quite a few special hands-in-the-air moments from this legendary DJ!

::PHIL REYNOLDS::
Next up this month is the first of our residents, and another true great – the one and only Phil Reynolds! It’s a cliché, but this man really needs no introduction. One of the DJs that made Frantic the phenomenon it was, you’ve all caught Phil’s sets, whether at Frantic, Heat or other top hard nights, or at previous Puzzles with his exclusive trance residency. You can expect a rip roaring experience without fail whenever Phil plays, but it’s only at Puzzle Project you’ll always see him spin trance and tech trance sets – and they have to be seen and heard to be believed!

::PHIL LANKESTER::
Our next resident this month is none other than Phil Lankester, who as always will be providing the party faithful with a rather potent dose of twisted psychedelia. Phil’s profile is still very much on the up and up with his Halcyon residency and multiple festival bookings lined up for the summer. Ask anyone on the London scene why Phil’s one of London’s best loved DJs (as confirmed by his DJ of the Year Award on HarderFaster.net), and all will point to his immaculate set programming, tune selection, unparalleled mastery of the art of EQ and a box of technical tricks not many can top. Expect the incredible – every single time!

::MATT CHURCH::
Next up is Puzzle Project co-founder and Red Sky Digital label owner Matt Church. His label continues to go from strength to strength, with recent releases receiving airtime and support from the likes of Ernesto and Bastian, Ben Nicky, Kutski (BBC Radio 1) and none other than Tiesto! Matt’s euphoric brand of driving trance always goes down a treat and this month’s set is likely to be no exception – quality trance blended by a master of his craft.

::ALI CANTOR::
Our next resident to play this month is Ali Cantor, a fellow member of the resident Puzzle Project trance contingent. A recent addition to the Puzzle crew, Ali has certainly impressed the Puzzle crowd with a series of jaw dropping sets. A DJ of true versatility, with a CD wallet that takes in house, techno and the full spectrum of trance from progressive to banging tech, and with the skills to match, you can expect Ali to deliver the goods whatever time of the night he plays!

::APRIL::
Completing this month’s line up is hard dance resident April. Her cheeky yet pumping brand of hard dance and inimitable presence behind the decks has won her legions of loyal fans, and April’s very much in demand across the scene with recent sets at Frantic, Storm and Hard House Academy. She’ll be closing out the party in style with a quality set of harder edged beats for that time of the night when only something a little bit fierce will do!

There are no excuses – don’t miss London’s biggest small party!
